Wat Som in Ayutthaya

Main Prang at Wat Som In Ayutthaya.

Wat Phra Ram was built by King Ramesuan in 1912 B.E. on the cremation site of his father King Uthong. Initially he reigned for only one year, so the construction was probably completed by his successor King Borom Ratchathirat I, or later when King Ramesuan took the throne once more. The temple was restored during the reign of King Borom Trailokanath, and later again in 2284 B.E.
The compound houses a large prang and chedis. In front of the temple there still is a large pond, which was dug out for construction of surrounding temples
